precure!!!

Precure is a magical girl franchise that started in 2004. it currently has 20 seasons, over 900 episodes, and over 30 movies.

but dont let that number scare you, because most of the seasons are stand alone things, you dont need to watch all of them ^_^

its been airing every Sunday since Febuary 1st 2004, almost entirely uninterrupted!

!!!this page is still being worked on, not all the sections are done!!!

Futari Wa Precure (2004), 49 Episodes

Characters: Nagisa Misumi (Cure Black), Honoka Yukishiro (Cure White)

personally, this is my favourite season ever. i used to watch the dub when it aired in the uk on popgirl, and it was actually the first anime i ever watched. i didnt even watch the popgirl channel that much, but i remember changing the channel and instantly being transfixed by it. i have heard some criticisms of this season, specifically about it being repetitive because most episodes follow a similar formula, and while i fully understand why a newcomer wouldnt really enjoy it, that could never get in the way of my pure nostalgia. i love this series with all my heart and i cant even put into words how much i love it, but i get that it isnt the best precure season. also the ending made me cry upon rewatching it. theres a certain character in this show who had SUCH a good character arc and the ending was just amazing. sadly this season didnt do too well in english speaking countries, so non of the seasons after this got a [GOOD] dub.

Futari Wa Precure: Max Heart (2005), 47 Episodes

Characters: Nagisa Misumi (Cure Black), Honoka Yukishiro (Cure White), Hikari kujou (Shiny Luminous)

one of the few sequel seasons!! max heart follows on the story of futari wa, now with a new main character, shiny luminous! i never watched this one as a kid because this season never got a dub, and thats really dissapointing! i loved this season, but i didnt have as much nostalgia for it as futari wa. still an amazing season though, definately watch it if you watched and enjoyed futari wa!!

Futari Wa Precure: Splash Star (2006), 49 Episodes

Characters: Saki Hyuuga (Cure Bloom), Mai Mishou (Cure Egret)

this season was the first reboot in the precure franchise, and began the formula of having a new show every year! personally i think this is a great season, but whoever designed the outfits was NOT qualified. just google cure bright and look at her outfit. the other elephant in the room is that the 2 main characters look exactly like nagisa and honoka from futari wa. this kind of a weird choice for the producers to make since theyre entirely new characters, and its a little confusing to newer fans. despite that, its now a bad season! would recommend, however if youre coming from futari wa/max heart, dont expect nagisa and honoka.

Yes! Precure 5 (2007), 49 Episodes

Characters: Nozomi Yumehara (Cure Dream), Rin Natsuki (Cure Rouge), Urara Kasugano (Cure Lemonade), Komachi Akimoto (Cure Mint), Karen Minazuki (Cure Aqua)

yes precure 5 is the first precure season to have more than 2 main cures, and was definately a turning point in the franchise. theres a lot of those in the first portion of the franchise, but thats because theyre just figuring out what works. this is the season im currently watching, and im only 6 episodes in at the time of writing this so i dont have much to say about it yet

Yes!Precure 5 gogo! (2008), 48 Episodes

Characters: Nozomi Yumehara (Cure Dream), Rin Natsuki (Cure Rouge), Urara Kasugano (Cure Lemonade), Komachi Akimoto (Cure Mint), Karen Minazuki (Cure Aqua), Kurumi Mimino (Milky Rose)

another sequel season! this is the last time this happens, all seasons after this are stand alone seasons. as i said in the last one, i havent seen this one yet so i dont have much to say

Fresh Precure (2009), 50 Episodes

Characters: Love Momozono (Cure Peach), Miki Aono (Cure Berry), Inori Yamabuki (Cure Pine), Setsuna Higashi (Cure Passion)

fresh precure is another massive turning point in the franchise. at this point, theyve had the same writers working on precure for a while, and people felt like the show was getting stale. they used fresh precure as a fresh start, and changed a lot of things up. along with changing the writers, they also changed the eds from 2d animated, to the iconic cgi dance endings that all precure fans love! this has become an iconic part of the franchise, and was a really good choice that lead to many amazing songs. it also introduced the all stars movies which are crossover movies that crossover all the precure seasons. they have their own section later down this page. theres not much to say about the actual show as i havent watched this yet either, but i still appreciate the changes it made.

Heartcatch Precure (2010), 49 Episodes

Characters: Tsubomi Hanasaki (Cure Blossom), Erika Kurumi (Cure Marine), Itsuki Myoudouin (Cure Sunshine), Yuri Tsukikage (Cure Midnight)

this season is THE fan favourite, and also known as the darkest precure season. i think the art style is really unique compared to the other seasons, and i cant wait to watch it when i get round to it

Suite Precure (2011), 48 Episodes

Characters: Hibiki Hojo (Cure Melody), Kanade Minamino (Cure Rhythm), Ellen Kurokawa (Cure Beat), Ako Sirabe (Cure Muse)
